ELBOW FRACTURES

Elbow fractures can occur as a result of a trauma, such as a fall. Elbow fractures that result from a fall most often occur when people stretch the arm straight out to catch themselves as they fall. When you fall on the ground, the force travels up through the wrist, hand, and forearm and into the elbow. There are 3 types of bone fractures:
Type I and II fractures usually are treated without surgery, while type III fractures usually require surgery. An elbow fracture is painful and tender. Swelling is present in the elbow and the ability to move your elbow or wrist is usually lost.
